Blur Gameplay

This guide is from a LAN that has ended, so information might be irrelevant and/or incorrect

tl;dr

Blur is a great arcade-style racing game for up to 20 players, with savage crashes, 8 powerups and not one, not two, but THREE tracks set in Brighton!

Protip: Turn off your Windows firewall before joining a lobby, or you'll be the last person that can join!

Powerups

Blur Powerups

From top left to bottom right:

Shunt

A projectile that flips cars. By default, it fires forward, and acts as a homing missile. When fired backwards (press back and fire at the same time), it fires in a straight line. It can be destroyed by other shunts, mines, a barge hit, or two bolt hits. If it is hit by a single bolt, the power of the shunt decreases, so that when it hits a car, it only rams it instead of flipping it, causing a lower speed loss.

Shock

Launches three electromagnetic pulse columns in the path of the race leader. These columns stun any car that passes through them. The three columns alternate between the sides of the road. When a car hits a column, that column disappears.

Mine

An explosive sphere that explodes on impact, spinning cars out of control. By default, you drop it behind your car when you press fire, and it remains static on the track. If you fire it forwards (press forwards and fire at the same time, you can use it to attack cars that are a short distance ahead. If a forward-fired mine doesn't hit a target, it slows down and remains static on the track .

Nitro

By default, this gives you a burst of speed. if you fire it backwards (press back and fire at the same time) you perform an air-brake, which completely stops your car for a second, during which which you are allowed to manoeuvre, followed by a burst of speed. It doesn't depend on wheel traction, so you can activate it with equal effectiveness while airborne. You can also use Nitro to perform sudden manoeuvring, like extreme cornering, long drifts, and quickly recovering from attacks.

Barge

A close range attack that forces cars away. You can also use it to defend against incoming attacks, and to deflect shunts, mines and hits.

Shield

Protects you from power-up impacts and collision damage for a limited amount of time.

Bolt

Fire up to three bolt rounds that cause cars to swerve. You can also fire these backwards (press back and fire at the same time). Landing all three of them deals increased damage.

Repair

Restores your car's integrity (essentially, your health); essential when damage is critical.

Play mode: Team Racing

In this mode, players are split across two teams: blue and yellow. Players race on the tracks as normal, and the team in the lead is whichever team has the most players ahead, and by how much. The winning team is whichever team is in the lead when the first car crosses the Finish line. Remember to only attack cars on the opposite team to you!
