How to play

A team of marines must hunt and kill "the hidden", a nearly invisible science experiment gone wrong, who can melee kill almost instantly.

Marines (IRIS)

• The hidden looks like a heat haze shimmer, and is most visible when moving
• The support class can re-supply others with ammo
• Reloading half way through a clip wastes ammo
• It's really easy to run out of ammo

The Hidden (Subject 617)

• You can jump, pounce and stick to walls by pressing middle mouse
• Stay away from bright lights as it will make you easy to see
• Right click when near a marine to pig stick them (loud and messy)
• Throw pipe bombs to disperse tight knit groups
• You can feed on corpses to regain health by pressing primary fire
• Feeding causes the corpse to thrash about, so do it when alone
• You cannot feed on gibbed corpses (caused by pipe bombs and pig sticking)
• You can pick up objects by pressing the use key near them
• You can pin corpses for feeding upon later or to freak people out, by picking up the body and pressing the secondary fire key near a wall or ceiling
• You can see marines' health by holding the C key when stationary

Standard mode

• Only one person plays as the hidden
• Once the hidden is killed, they swap with their killer on the marines team
• If the hidden wipes out all marines, they stay on as hidden in the next round

OverRun mode

• The hidden does not have any pipe bombs
• When the hidden kills a marine, they become the hidden too
• The hidden has infinite lives
• When only one marine remains, there is a survival timer of 15 seconds
• If the last remaining marine survives, they become the hidden the next round

Install The Hidden: Source

1. In Steam, install Source SDK Base 2006
2. Log into the ZPH Web Fileserver with username zph and password zph
3. Open the folder Hidden Source and download GHSI.exe
4. Run GHSI.exe
5. If you see the message Windows protected your PC click More info and then click Run anyway
6. Restart Steam

Or find the ZPH server using the Steam Game Server Browser

Or join manually:

1. Launch The Hidden Source
2. Click Find Servers
3. Click the LAN tab
4. In the bottom-right, click Refresh
5. Click Zero Ping Heroes
6. In the bottom-right, click Connect
